Greens campaign for NSP in prison
The Greens spokesperson for Corrections and Health, Amanda Bresnan has released a position paper today calling on goverment to implement needle and syringe programs in ACT's first prison, recently opened. The Greens argue that not only do NSP's improve the health of prisoners and corrections officers, they also improve the uptake of drug treatment programs as evidenced overseas.
New medicines are being developed that are expected to transform the care of patients with hepatitis C, making treatment far more effective and far less grueling.
